Job Title: QHSE Manager (Quality / Health and Safety)
Location: Forest of Dean, UK
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: Up to £50k (DOE) + Benefits

HRGO Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced QHSE Manager on behalf of our FMCG Manufacturing client based in the Forest of Dean.

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the successful candidate will be a key part of the Site Leadership Team, leading a small team across Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) functions. This role requires a hands-on approach and a strong commitment to fostering a safety-first culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and oversee a Safety-First culture across production operations, including Behavioural Safety Improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with customer quality expectations and that products are manufactured safely and efficiently.
  • Oversee the company's QHSE & compliance requirements, implementing policies and procedures.
  • Conduct ISO, BRC, and internal audits, along with workplace inspections to identify and address non-conformances.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, conducting root cause analysis and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Manage Risk Assessments and COSHH Risk Assessments, ensuring they are reviewed and updated regularly.
  • Assist with compliance obligations under Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations 2007.
  • Oversee contractor management, including Permit to Work processes, Risk Assessments, and Method Statements.
  • Provide toolbox talks and use QHSE tools (Plan-Do-Check-Act, 6S, Root Cause Analysis) to drive continuous improvements.

Who We're Looking For:

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Internal Auditor qualification.
  • Training in Accident/Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety standards.
  • Solid understanding of H&S and Environmental legislation.
  • Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma knowledge (desirable).
  • ONC/HNC in Manufacturing disciplines (desirable)
