QUALITY ASSURANCE WELDING ENGINEER

We have a BRAND NEW position, created by the company due to their continual growth. Though they are in manufacturing, they are very bespoke and ideally looking for someone from a welding/ fabrication back ground.
The client is based near Castle Cary and is looking for a quality assusrnace engineer
£43-£47k, 37.7 hour week, Great benefits
Role Purpose
Support the Manufacturing Manager in the development and implementation of a quality assurance process, its policies and procedures. With a small team, carry out all quality control and inspection work. Assist in other areas falling under our Quality Management System. Manage the extensive inspection of builds within manufacturing and hygienic pipework installations before their release or handover. Prevent errors in these areas that would lead to a defective standard.
Accountabilities
Manage and carry out visual inspection of welds in line with internal welding standard in our workshops and on customer sites.
Assist in reviewing and creating inspection standards, write and review inspection plans.
Check that materials, parts and components involved in our manufacturing and installation processes are of the required specification and quality.
Perform routine stage and final quality control inspections.
Report any defects through effective reporting and communicate how to prevent in the future.
Communicate with manufacturing and project delivery to coordinate scheduling of inspection and quality control.
Assist with preparation and completion of Factory Acceptance Testing.
Ensure that quality assurance documentation is completed following all inspection activities.
Be involved with the continual improvement of our quality control processes.
Visit suppliers to conduct Factory Acceptance Tests.
Work with suppliers as required to improve the quality of their supply.
Prepare quality control and inspection documentation.
Assist with the requirements of BS EN 1090 UKCA Marking. Monitor weld consumable controls, welding qualifications, etc.
Person Specification
Essential:
Proven experience of quality assurance
Have a weld inspection qualification through PCN or CSWIP
Good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
Good ICT skills, competent with MS Office
Desirable:
5 years+ experience in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge and experience of the food and drinks industry
Basic safety training or health and safety qualification, IOSH or equivalent
